The South Broward Learning Center is the brain child of Mrs. Dorethea Wright whose primary concern was to provide children with a comprehensive and affordable early childhood educational experience.

Studies show that most working parents prefer to leave their children closer to home than where they work. Thus, privately operated day care centers in residential neighborhood areas assuredly have longevity in operation.

VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten)
The Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program is a legislatively mandated program designed to prepare every four-year-old in Florida for kindergarten and build the foundation for their educational success.

The VPK program
is FREE for all four-year-olds born on or before September 1 who reside in Florida. Private and public schools, private and faith-based child care centers, and licensed family child care homes participate and are authorized to provide a VPK program.

Subsidized Child Care Program
The development of the Dorathea Wright Subsidy Childcare Scholarship is designed to assist eligible low income working families with partial payment of child care fees. With the relatively shaky condition of the economy it has affected the low income working parents in our communities the hardest, preventing them the basic opportunity, some have, to afford a safe and nourishing learning environment for their children while they are at work.
